The longest journey…

It has taken me three years to finish this book and I have to be honest, it was the hardest manuscript I have ever had to pen. I took a break from writing a single word for this book for months only to resume and take a pause again. I guess the title is befitting on many fronts because its completion truly has been one exhausting, emotional and long journey. I am happy that journey has come to an end and I get to present my latest offering to you.

I lost my mind a couple of times writing this, cried, got angry, screamed and even laughed. I lost myself as the words flowed and found myself when I finally put the pen down after writing the closing line. My editor, bless her soul, cried a lot whilst working on the book and even she had to take a break from it for some days. I know she is an emotional person but I guess the fact that she is also my mother made her heart ache more when she started working on the book. She even sent me an invoice for therapy when she went through the first few pages.

“This book is all the therapy I need even for my own baggage.” Hearing those words from her assured me that what I had set out to do by writing this book had been accomplished. The book is a true-fiction, I have lived most of the experiences in the book and the ones which are fictional well, I am sure are someone else’s lived experiences. I guess that is why it was so hard for me to finish it but that’s what makes it very dear to me. As for which parts are true and which ones are fictional, I would rather we leave that alone and simply enjoy the read and learn whatever lessons you can derive from it.

My tag line has always been, “healing the world one word at a time”, and I wanted this book to bring healing to everyone who gets to read it. There are so many things we all need to heal from and sometimes we go on with life thinking we are okay when in all honesty, we are not. But let me not divulge everything and allow you the chance to get a copy for yourself and make your own analysis of it.

This book has brought me so much peace and I don’t want to just share it on paper. So, I will be reading it and I will upload the first reading on my podcast, Tsonga Mukololo. Thereafter, audios will only be available on Patreon, just search for Tsonga Mukololo, there will be other interesting things going on there and I hope you can join me.

Whilst the book is now available for sale, we are yet to announce the book launch date when a few of us can sit down and actually discuss the book. If you are in Zimbabwe and would like to get yourself a copy of the book you can get in touch with me on +263773281331 or email tsongamukololo@gmail.com. The book is also available on Amazon, just search for: The longest journey by Sanelisiwe Mabhena to get your own copy.

For now, the book is only available in paperback.
Happy reading.
