It is done!!!

There is something about new found love, especially after you’ve sworn it off and said never again will I love someone. Often times, we find ourselves right there, by love’s doorstep, battling the idea of whether or not to be vulnerable and walk on the other side or to simply take our hand off the door knob and run far away from it as possible.

This is a mixture of various topics, love, marriage, hurt, friendship and intimacy, all wrapped in one poetry book, Vows From The Alpha. The books looks at new found love, the hopes, promises and expectations we carry into love as we dare to risk giving someone else our heart and trusting them not to break it. We tend to start making promises to the Lord(Alpha), God please let this be it and I will be a better person and when you’re on your this is my final relationship then you tend to start picturing forever in your mind and your mind unknowingly starts jotting your vows from the start(alpha).

The beauty of this book is that it does not romanticize love, instead it breaks the rose coloured windows to portray the true and clear image of what love is, what it can bring about and what it can also rob you of. Most people hope for a love that brings about a forever, and some are lucky to actually be blessed with their heart’s desires. And sometimes it’s not so rosy, there’s heartbreak, separation, hurt and hatred, no one starts out with the hope of love ending this way but that is the fate of some love stories.

Even with the above mentioned, this book shows how to never lose hope in love. Sometimes you don’t have to look for it, it finds you in the least likely manner and when it comes into fruitition you take a step back to look at the beginning of the journey and you’re left in awe of what a great love story it is.

Whilst writing this book, I’ve had the pleasure of being around and talking to different people in different types of relationships, dating couples, married couples, widowed spouses and even divorced couples. One thing I found to be true is that friendship, true friendship, is what’s key for the success of anyone of these, yes, even in divorce. If you’re truly friends then there will never be a point where you hurt each other intentionally even when the love has been lost.

Of course there’s intimacy, in the book, that’s under, “the bedroom playlist”, let’s be honest, people are different and we enjoy different things when it comes to intimacy. That being said, we may sometimes fall into the pit of making love the same way over and over again until coitus becomes monotonous and we end up not getting excited about it like we should. The playlist gives a serenade of the mind, body and soul because sex is not just about the physical, it’s a lot more deeper and the pieces in that section help one to explore all the other avenues that help to channel a beautiful consummation of love.

So whether you’re in love, out of love, starting on new found love or even hoping for love, this book is definitely for you. Maybe you’ve looked at a couple before and after finding out about their love story in your subconscious you were like, oh that I may pray her/his prayer and get to experience a love like that in this lifetime. Well guess what, you will absolutely love this collection of poems.

I am so excited to finally scream, IT IS DONE!!! I have to be honest, this wasn’t easy to pen but I grew so much along the journey, learned and discovered so many things about myself, love and a lot more. The title of the book carries so much of what the book is about and if you have read my first book, “Conversations from the God’s”, I am pretty sure that you would agree that it is a beautiful transition to see, kind of like the transition in my own life, where love is concerned.
